Analytics, only if you say yes

One analytics tool, no advertising, no profiling, and nothing stored on your device unless you accepted the banner. This page says exactly what happens either way.

If you declined, or never answered

Nothing is stored on your device for analytics. No cookies are set, no identifier is created, and nothing follows you between visits or between pages.

Google's tag still loads and still tells Google that a page was viewed. It does this without a cookie or an identifier, so the notice is anonymous and cannot be tied to your other visits. It is how we can count visits from people who declined without tracking any of them.

Two localStorage entries exist regardless of your answer, because both hold a choice you made and neither identifies you:

Both fall under the "strictly necessary" exemption in the ePrivacy rules — a site is allowed to remember what you asked it to do without asking permission to remember it.

If you accepted

We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages people actually read. It sets cookies named _ga and _ga_<id> on your device, which last up to two years and let Google tell a returning visitor from a new one.

What we see is aggregate: how many people came, roughly where from, which pages they opened, which links they followed to the Microsoft Store. We do not see who you are, and there is nothing in it to connect a visit to a person. Google's own handling of that data is covered by Google's privacy policy; we have configured the property so IP addresses are not stored, and advertising and personalisation signals are switched off and stay off whether you accept or not.

Why you were asked

The EU ePrivacy Directive, the UK PECR and their equivalents require permission before a site stores or reads information on your device, with a narrow exception for what is strictly necessary. Analytics is not strictly necessary — helpful to us, not to you — so it needs a real yes. That is why the banner defaults to off, why Decline is the same size as Accept, and why Google's tag is held in its denied state until you choose.

Changing your mind

Your answer is not final and does not need an email to us.

Clearing your browser's site data for redicon.pk has the same effect, and also deletes any Google Analytics cookies already set.

Everything else comes from us

Apart from Google Analytics, these pages load no fonts, stylesheets, scripts, images or embedded content from anyone else's servers. Google's tag is the exception, and it loads on every visit whatever you answered; the two sections above say what it does in each case. Everything else, React included, is served from redicon.pk. The typefaces are served from redicon.pk rather than from Google Fonts — a font fetched from another company's server sends your IP address and browser details to that company before you have agreed to anything, and that is a thing worth not doing.

Server logs are not cookies

Our web host keeps ordinary access logs — IP address, timestamp, the page requested, the browser's user agent string. These are recorded by the server as it answers the request; nothing is placed on your device, and nothing follows you between visits. We use them to keep the site up and to spot abuse. This is covered in the privacy policy.

The application

Velocity Bridge is a desktop application, not a web page, and has no cookies either. It stores your saved sites and settings in a local database on your own computer, and your passwords in the operating system's credential store. It sends us nothing. The privacy policy covers this in detail.

The Microsoft Store

If you visit the Microsoft Store to install Velocity Bridge, you are on Microsoft's website or in Microsoft's application, under Microsoft's privacy statement and cookie practices. We have no control over those and no visibility into them.
